2026 Design trends we’re loving
four months into 2026 we’re starting to see some design trends from late 2025 shine. replacing minimalism and lots of white cabinetry are dark, moody colors full of warmth. Statement tile in all sorts of designs, colors and textures is having a moment too. Finally, light floors elevate a space while adding an organic and timeless feel.
Moody colors for 2026
Every season there will be plenty of hgtv reno shows that include white and bright kitchens. however, we’re seeing more and more homeowners who are opting for something a little more risky and a little more elegant. dark forest green cabinetry with brass accents, black countertops, navy islands, dramatic backsplashes - there are so many ways to use moody colors in your home!
Why the shift? darker colors don’t necessarily mean a “dark” or “cave like” space. By combining these colors with light woods, natural light and organic materials, homeowners can create a warm and inviting space. Layering colors and textures in this way elevates the feel of a space while also making it feel very purposeful and rich.
light woods
Blonde finishes, white oak and natural maple pair so well with moody colors and natural light. stained woods will always add a richness and organic feel to a room. the unique wood grain of each piece tells a story and adds depth and character. the layering of darker painted walls with maple or white oak cabinetry helps to create a multi-sensory experience for you and your guests.
statement tile
When we talk of “statement tile” we mean tile that stands apart. it could be a dramatic color, handcrafted stone tiles, textured and geometric tiles, and more. From backsplashes to showers, laundry rooms to kitchens, tile is a versatile and often underutilized design device. Available in a huge variety of colors and textures, tile can create drama and warmth in a space.
Texture and layering
texture and layering are two words we’re sure to see more of this year. they are the ideas that bring all of these elements together. by layering moody colors with wood Grains and organic fabrics (think: blankets, baskets, area rugs), we can create spaces that feel both luxurious and welcoming.
Texture adds depth. If everything in a room were sleek and shiny, the room could feel very cold. But by adding soft cotton pillows on the couch, natural stone tile around the fireplace, and even light linen drapes, that same room will instantly feel more grounded and inviting.
Texture and layering: wood grain, fabric chairs, even the light fixture over the table work together to create luxury and warmth.
